President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, warned Guayaquil mayor, Jaime Nebot, that he will not allow the construction of a casino in Guayas river, next to Malecón 2000.
„Of course I do not agree with it, and even worse, with the arrogance and pride; so we do not have to comply with laws or rules, we have to make a popular plebiscite”, affirmed the president.
„The law and the rules clearly forbid the construction of casinos out of five-star hotels,” added Correa, and remarked: „We can agree or disagree on the matter, we can debate; change the law, but we cannot go against it“.
„This casino is illegal and, we anticipate we will respect the law“, pointed Correa.
