WSOP Circuit Main Event at Caesars Vegas Starts Today

Final Table Will Take Place Thursday

The USD 5,000 championship event of the World Series of Poker Circuit event at Caesars Palace Las Vegas starts at noon PT today. The final table of the event is scheduled to take place Thursday, and if the preliminary events are any indication, the final event should attract a good-sized field.

Several of the USD 500 events either cracked or came close to breaking the 500-player mark, building price pools upwards of USD 250,000. Field numbers at Circuit events depend largely on where the event takes place. On average, the events that took place the past few weeks at Caesars Palace Las Vegas attracted about one-third more players per event than anywhere else.

The last USD 5,000 Circuit event, which took place in Caesars Palace in Indiana, attracted only 117 entrants. The one before that, which was held at Caesars Palace in Atlantic City, attracted 277 entrants. But the USD 5,000 event preceding the Atlantic City event, which was held at Horseshoe in Council Bluffs, Iowa, didn’t even break 100 entries (99).

This is the second-to-last Circuit event to take place in the 2007-2008 schedule. The final event will take place at Harrah’s New Orleans from May 9-21. After that, the WSOP at the Rio in Las Vegas starts its marathon on May 30.
