Games of chance business generates USD 1.5 billion a year en Colombia

Games of chance business in Colombia generates USD 1.5 billion a year, equivalent to two tax reforms.

According to the Colombian Federation of Games of Chance business (Feceazar), three sectors obtain the best collection: chance, the most sold, followed by casinos, bingos, slot halls and lotteries, with sales of USD 518.5 million.

However, lotteries have been losing its space lately, mainly due to the appearance of online games such as Baloto. The most sold lotteries are from Bogota (30%), Antioquia (28%) and Cali (15%). These games generate transferences to the health system of USD 217.8 million a year.

Three gambling venues in Colombia are visited by 13 million players, according to a study from Codere.

Three companies are the main owners of the casino business in the country: Codere (Mundo Fortuna, Fantasía Roya, Star Casino); Winner Group (Hollywood, Río, Rock N Jazz, Broadway); Universal de Casinos (Caribe, Havana, real Game, Golden Place, Circus). According to Etesa, there are 12,700 slots operating in the country.
