Casinos Poland, Warsaw, hosting the Polish Open 2008 Poker Tournament

Century Casinos, Inc. announced that its 33.3% subsidiary, Casinos Poland Ltd., will host the premier European Poker Tour (EPT) event in Poland, the Polish Open 2008, from March 11 to 15, 2008, at the company’s casino at the Hyatt Hotel in Warsaw.

The Polish Open is a five-day Texas Hold‘ Em No Limit tournament and will follow the standard structure for all EPT4 five-day events. Buy-in is 21,000 zlotys (approx. USD 8,600) and the total prize pool can reach 8,000,000 zlotys (approx. USD 3,280,000). The tournament will be capped at 400 players.

According to EPT information, the EPT, now in its fourth season, is Europe’s richest and most popular poker tour — with tournaments televised for broadcast throughout the world. Season 3 of the EPT saw sell-out EUR 5,000 (approx. USD 7,350) tournaments in Barcelona, London, Copenhagen, Dortmund and Warsaw. The season’s show piece event — the EUR 10,000 (approx. USD 14,700) buy-in EPT Grand Final — attracted a record field of 706 players with a prize pool of EUR 6,600,000 (approx. USD 9,700,000), making it the richest tournament ever held outside of Las Vegas, USA. The total prize pool of EPT Season 3 was EUR 26,600,000 (approx. USD 39,100,000), with over 3,400 contestants.
