Detroit casinos take in USD 1.3B in 2007

Detroit — The city’s three state-licensed casinos took in USD 1.335 billion in 2007 as revenue growth slowed to 2.4 percent, Michigan regulators said today.
Revenue had grown 6.1 percent the year before.

Michigan’s wagering tax brought in USD 160 million in 2007, the Michigan Gaming Control Board reported. The tax brought in USD 158 million on revenues of USD 1.303 billion in 2006.

MGM Grand Detroit Casino extended its market leadership last year, taking a 38.5 percent share. Its revenues rose 4.9 percent to USD 513 million. It took in USD 490 million in 2006, when it had a 37.6 percent market share.

MotorCity Casino’s market share remained steady at 36 percent last year. Its revenues rose 2.5 percent to USD 480 million. It took in USD 469 million in 2006.

Greektown Casino’s market share fell to 25.6 percent from 26.5 percent, and its revenue dropped 1.1 percent to USD 341 million from USD 345 million.
