Second edition of ELA event to be held in Mexico City in 2009

Due to pressure exerted by several Mexican gaming operators, the second edition of the Latin-American Gaming Fair (ELA) will be held in Mexico City in 2009, even though the first edition of the event, to be held on 15-16 May next year in Monterrey, has not even taken place yet.

According to Pablo G. Jara, General Director of ELA, “actually, this time the Mexican industry has given us a very pleasant surprise, particularly when the first edition of the Fair, to be held on 15-16 May next year, has not even taken place yet.

Mexican gaming operators have told us that Monterrey would be too small for a second edition and that we should take into account the fact that most companies are based in Mexico City.

With five months still to go before the 2008 Exhibition, almost the entire exhibition area has been sold. Accordingly, if sales have been so successful for the first edition, for the second one we must either go to Mexico City or we will be overwhelmed.

The Mexican gaming sector has an amazing potential for business, noted some time ago by the big Spanish companies and certain US companies, who are obtaining very satisfactory results here. Conscious of the reality of the country, we think that now is the time to invest. Anybody who opts for a more conservative policy will be mere witness to the success of others.“
