Valley View Casino forms new venture

Valley View Casino officials announced this week they have formed a new business venture to develop and manage other casinos, putting it in the presence of larger, more established gambling companies.

Tribal leaders with the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, which owns Valley View Casino, said they wanted to take advantage of the management talent that has helped develop their casino and share the knowledge with other tribes.

With hundreds of tribal governments running casinos or looking to develop casinos, Randolph Baker, who heads San Diego State’s Sycuan Institute on Tribal Gaming, said the San Pasqual tribe may be on to something. The institute conducts research and teaches tribal gambling management.

The San Pasqual tribe is one of five tribes in North County that owns a casino. Most of them looked to Las Vegas to help them develop and manage their operations such as Harrah’s Entertainment, owned by the Rincon Band of Mission Indians in Valley Center.
