Casino Red wins licensing approval in Huddersfield

Casino Red has been granted a license to open its new casino and entertainment venue on the site of the old Princess Cinema on Northumberland Street in Huddersfield, England.

“Everyone associated with Casino Red is delighted to now have the opportunity to develop an entertainment venue that the town can enjoy” commented Nicholas Boyes-Hunter, CEO of Casino Red.

Boyes-Hunter continues “The decision means Casino Red will open the doors to its first land based site within six months, creating over 120 jobs and bringing USD 9.9 million investment to the area in the process. Huddersfield is a vibrant town with a thriving social scene and we are confident of developing a spectacular site for a tremendous town.“

Jonathan Truelove, Casino Red’s Chief Operating Officer said: „The decision is a fantastic result for Huddersfield. Our venue will be a massive addition to the town’s entertainment and leisure facilities and will draw in visitors from far and wide.“

The development of the old Princess Cinema ensures one of Huddersfield’s most loved listed buildings is sympathetically restored to its former glory as the centrepiece of Huddersfield entertainment. Visitors to the venue will be welcomed by a unique reception area from which they can access any of the facilities on offer. The venue will be spread over four floors, offering gaming, fine dining and live entertainment to visitors.

The basement will house a dedicated poker room, while the ground floor will host the rest of the venues gaming activities, including Blackjack, Roulette and electronic machines. The mezzanine circle will host “Scarlet” an 85 cover restaurant and separate circle bar, both with impressive views down onto the ground floor gaming and stage area.

A further third floor gallery “The Ruby Lounge” will hold a VIP or private booking section with a fantastic view over all floors. The domed ceiling is to be restored and complimented with a centrepiece contemporary chandelier.

„We will establish a gaming and entertainment facility that will be a credit to the area. Bars, restaurant, live entertainment and much more will be complemented by this superb building with fantastic acoustics. The atmosphere will make people smile, make them feel comfortable, excited and passionate. Above all, visitors and regulars to Huddersfield’s Casino Red will leave feeling they have spent an evening with their best friends – even if they were alone,“ he concluded.
