Leading Technology Companies Exhibiting at This Year’s Most Popular Entertainment Tradeshow

Macau – Tech innovators are turning to the MGS Entertainment Show (MGS), held each autumn at The Venetian Macao, to promote their products to a broad audience of industry professionals and curious consumers. The MGS bills itself as a broad-based gaming, entertainment and leisure tradeshow and seeks to attract established suppliers to the gaming industry as well as trail blazers in the new industries that are reshaping the entertainment and leisure landscape. With this year’s focus on the innovations that are shaping the smart city of the near future, a number of leading technology companies have signed up to show off tech advances that would have seemed like science fiction at MGS’s inception five years ago.

Visitors to this year’s show will not want to miss their opportunity to shake hands with the affable humanoid robots at the Qihan booth. The Shenzhen-based company has become a leading player in video analysis since its founding in 2006, and last year, they exploded onto the service robotics scene with the launch of their line of Sanbot robots. Beginning with a service industry robot called Elf, Sanbot made ins with airport services and boarder security, as well as with shopping malls and entertainment venues. The emotionally expressive, touch-sensitive, thermal-scanning, disco-dancing, multi-lingual Elf is showing that human-robot interactions are the future. This year, Sanbot introduced Elf’s bigger, stronger, faster, and more human-like younger sibling King Kong. Both Elf and King Kong will be fully charged and ready for a meet and greet at the Qihan booth.

Somewhat less robotic but every bit as relevant to the smart city of our future is Alibaba’s cloud computing service. Alibaba Cloud provides mundane services like website hosting and batch email management, but their progress on the leading edge of data analytics and the machine learning field of artificial intelligence is what promises to impress. Alibaba Cloud is China’s largest provider of public cloud computing services, and this summer they entered into an agreement with the Macau SAR to bring improvements to the territory’s infrastructure for tourism, healthcare, transportation, and government, as well as to improve the professional training in information technology available to students in Macau so as to support the labor needs of Macau’s smart-city ambitions. The innovations made by Alibaba Cloud are promising to transform Macau and cities throughout China.

Advanced analytics and facial recognition have already permeated the video surveillance market thanks to companies like Hikvision. With a presence on every populated continent, Hikvision is a leading international player affecting the public’s security and privacy. The ability of their surveillance technology to piece together a narrow set of relevant events from a vast supply of video footage has changed the way investigations and security monitoring are conducted. Technologies developed by companies like Hikvision are the eyes of the smart city.

A number of major technology related companies will be showcasing their products and services alongside more traditional gaming and entertainment players and businesses in the industries surrounding them. The annual MGS Entertainment Show will mark its 5th anniversary this year, and the show will be open to the public, taking place from 14-16 November at The Venetian Macao.
