Court Decision Will Keep Casinos Open Despite Partial State Shutdown

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Secretary of Revenue Thomas W. Wolf today announced that Commonwealth Court granted a Temporary Restraining Order and ordered the five casinos in the state to remain open despite a partial state shutdown.

Earlier Sunday night, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board unanimously approved an order directing the five gaming operations in the state to cease and desist operations if/when the following occurs: the Department of Revenue furloughs employees who are necessary for the oversight of gaming operations and the Department disables the central computer system.

„In accordance with the court order, we are rescinding the furloughs of employees whose job is to monitor, supervise and manage the Central Computer System pending disposition of the preliminary injunction,“ Wolf said.
