The IGE 2007 delegate pass unlocks opportunity with Italian gaming and betting market

(Italy).- The IGE 2007 comes at a great time, with Italian gaming and gambling markets opening up after the recent Placania case in the European Court of Justice. Their ruling means a number of online and land-based operators from outside Italy can now compete with the country’s domestic business.

Gambling operators from the UK are thought to be particularly interested, with Stanley leading the way. On Wednesday May 30th Francesco Tolotti, MP & Vice President of the Finance Commission in the Italian Lower House will open the IGE 2007 and participate with the IGE 2007 Online Gambling Legislation Debate. Expect hot topics to be discussed at IGE in some depth.

Italy is considered as one of the most promising online and land-based gambling markets. According to a new study and survey of consulting firm MECN, the Italian gambling market has a top priority for international gambling operators.

The study identifies several reasons why Italy is perceived as so attractive; it says another phase of liberalisation is expected in the near future and that two-thirds of the experts surveyed expect another phase of liberalisation in the near future that will go even further than the steps planned for 2007.

The IGE conference promises to cover the whole range of gambling and gaming for delegates. Over 30 companies are on the exhibitors list at this moment, from more than 10 countries.
