AOL Games to Award Nine Seats to World Series of Poker® Championships in Las Vegas

Dulles, Virginia – AOL Games (http://games.aol.com) will award the top nine AOL poker players with coveted $ 10,000 seats to this summer’s World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Beginning April 16, players can compete in nine No-Limit Texas Hold’Em tournaments on AOL’s World Series of Poker hub (http://wsop.aol.com).

“AOL is offering amateur poker players the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Jeffrey Pollack, Commissioner of the World Series of Poker. “If you want to win a seat to our Main Event, AOL is the only officially sanctioned place to play for a chance to win free seats on the Internet.”

The tournament will unfold over the course of nine weeks. Each week, players will participate in free daily qualifying tournaments to earn their way to a Sunday winner-take-all tournament awarding a free $ 10,000 entry and travel accommodations to the 2007 World Series of Poker No-Limit Texas Hold’em Championship slated to begin July 6, 2007 at the Rio® All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

“Online poker play’s popularity has exploded in recent years,” said Ralph Rivera, Vice President and General Manager, AOL Games. “Our agreement with Harrah’s will provide nine novice poker players with the opportunity of a lifetime to join Poker professionals to possibly win the grand prize purse worth millions.”

In addition to the AOL Games® channel’s exclusive library of free World Series of Poker games including variations of Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Stud poker, the site also offers poker tips and videos featuring professional poker players.
