Macau gaming tycoon has no interest in Singapore casino

Macau gaming tycoon Stanley Ho will not have an interest in the casino resort that Genting International is to build on Sentosa island here, a spokesman for the project said.

Jackson Loy, communications assistant director for the project, called Resorts World Sentosa, was reacting to news reports that Genting International was planning to allow Ho to have a stake in the casino resort here in return for Genting International’s foothold in the Macau casino market.

“Ho will not be having an interest in the Resorts World at the Sentosa project,” Loy told reporters.

Genting International, part of conglomerate Genting Bhd, and its sister company, Star Cruises Ltd, won a licence in December to build a casino resort on Sentosa.

Last month, the Straits Times reported that Genting International had been questioned by the government here about its plans to allow Ho a stake in the Sentosa project.
