Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) organized with great success its fourth annual European Regulators Roundtable. The two-day event took place 5-6 October at the Hotel Schiphol A4 in The Netherlands.

This year’s roundtable drew over 37 regulators from across the continent, including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. GLI Europe presented the roundtable free of charge to regulators to provide awareness and education concerning changes within the European marketplace and technology.

The main topics of discussion were server-based and downloadable gaming, wireless technology, phase II testing and cashless systems. Video lottery terminals and bingo systems were popular topics which led to in-depth discussions. Other presentations touched on systems verification training, the Interoperability Center and its importance in the certification process, accounting systems and system based gaming using GSA’s G2S protocol.

Presenting at this year’s Regulators Roundtable was a mix of GLI staff including Sean Mason, Senior Technical Compliance Engineer and Ana Downing-Mason, Technical Manager of Systems from GLI Las Vegas. Presenters from GLI Europe were Roger Farrell, Director of Operations and Engineering and Peter Cercone, General Manager. Also presenting this year was Marc Mc Dermott, Technical Director for the Gaming Standards Association (GSA).

About the event, Roger Farrell commented: “This year’s attendance significantly surpassed our expectations, making this our best roundtable thus far. The regulators took the opportunity to raise questions with the presenters from GLI and GSA who were able to provide comparative information between the US environments and those found in Europe.”
