Casino group to tenfold number of gaming tables in Macao

The Hong Kong-based Galaxy Entertainment Group is to tenfold the number of the gaming tables at its casinos in Macao this year, local media reported Wednesday.

The Macao Post Daily quoted sources from Galaxy as saying that the Grand Waldo and the Star World, the two new casinos which were slated to open later this year, will raise the number of Galaxy’s gaming tables from last year’s 63 to 603.

Galaxy, which holds one of Macao’s three gaming concessions, is currently running two of Macao’s 19 casinos.

The two casinos grasped a gross gaming revenue of 16.7 billion patacas (2.09 billion U.S. dollars) in 2005, 8.6 percent of the market share in the region, according to the annual financial report issued by Galaxy earlier this year.
