Terry Lanni, MGM‘s chairman and CEO, made only brief comments about Atlantic City during a conference call Thursday about MGM‘s fourth-quarter earnings. MGM spokeswoman Yvette Monet said after the conference call that the company wasn’t ready to make any other announcements.

MGM has had an on-again, off-again relationship with Atlantic City. In recent years, it has reneged on promises for a lavish casino on vacant land next to Showboat Casino Hotel and a billion-dollar megaresort in the Marina District.

Lanni told Reuters in an interview earlier this month that any formal announcement about an Atlantic City project would not come until „about halfway between now and the opening of CityCenter in November 2009.“

CityCenter, under construction on 66 acres in Las Vegas, is a USD 7 billion development featuring a 4,000-room casino hotel, luxury condominiums and an array of retail and entertainment attractions.
