Das Einkaufen und Zubereiten eigener Mahlzeiten ist in Hotels natürlich kaum möglich, für Camper aber ist es eine guten Alternative. Hinsichtlich der Preisgestaltung für Lebensmittel gibt es durchaus Unterschiede zu Deutschland. Abgesehen vom sowieso recht hohen Lebensstandard der Amerikaner sind besonders Wurst, Käse, Süßwaren und alkoholische Getränke recht teuer.

Frisches Gebäck ist nicht überall aufzutreiben. Die größten Supermarktketten sind Vons, Albertsons, Walmart und Kmart, wobei die beiden letztgenannten keine Frischwaren führen (Obst, Gemüse, Milch, Fleisch). Dafür sind die anderen Lebensmittel billiger, und es gibt eine große Auswahl preiswerter Campingartikel.

Es gibt auch direkt am Strip Supermärkte, diese richten sich jedoch fast auschließlich an Touristen und sind daher relativ teuer.
