Five groups interested on the tender papers for Hotel Casino Carrasco

Five groups bought the papers with the conditions for the tender of Hotel Casino Carrasco. Montevideo council (IMM) set the opening of the call to acquire the documents, which will close next May 8th.

Among the groups that showed interest, are Hyatt chain, Pestana group and Tsakos. Director of Urban Conversion of the council, Hyara Rodríguez, affirmed that there might be more groups interested in the tender.

"But the truth is that it doesn't matter because the papers have been on Internet all the time, and everyone have prepared the tender according to this schedule and its purchase. It is necessary that they buy them half an hour before May 8th, which is the deadline. So we do not know how many people will apply, he affirmed.

Rodríguez reminded the goal of the tender. "It is a tender in which Hotel Carrasco building should be refurbished, on top of the façade and all the features of the building that is one of the most important parts of the tender for us. The fact of recovering a crucial patrimony for Montevideo as well as for all Uruguayans is very important for us, and the casino that operates inside Carrasco Hotel will be tendered, too.
